Can LeaFree handle Omaha's heaviest storms?
Yes. LeaFree is rated for 12 inches of rain per hour, per the manufacturer's spec sheet. For reference, the average hurricane drops less than 1 inch of rain per hour. The nose-forward hood keeps water attached to the panel and flowing into the gutter even in downpours.
What is LeaFree made of?
Heavy .024-gauge recycled aluminum with a baked-on, low-gloss polyester finish, fastened with stainless steel zip screws. It is manufactured by GPI Gutter Products in Elkhorn, Nebraska, about 20 minutes from most of the metro.
Will installing gutter guards damage my roof?
Not the way LeaFree installs. Panels tuck under your first row of shingles and screw only to the lip of the gutter. Nothing is nailed or screwed into your roof deck or fascia, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to void a shingle warranty.
Do I need new gutters first?
Usually not. LeaFree is designed to install over your existing 5-inch and 6-inch gutters. That is a real difference from systems like LeafGuard, which replace your gutters entirely. If your gutters do need repair, we fix what needs fixing and keep the rest.
Will I see it from the street?
You will see a cleaner roofline, not a gadget. LeaFree sits low, matches your gutter color, and hides the metal flashing. Most neighbors never notice anything except that you stopped climbing ladders.
Omaha weather and trees
Will gutter guards stop ice dams?
Honest answer: no gutter cover prevents ice dams, and anyone who says otherwise is selling. Ice dams come from attic heat loss melting snow that refreezes at the cold eave. What LeaFree does is keep gutters clear and draining, which reduces ice buildup in the gutter itself and the damage that comes with it. If you fight ice dams every winter, ask us about attic insulation and ventilation while we are up there.
What about cottonwood fluff and maple helicopters?
This is where Omaha eats mesh guards alive. Fluff and helicopters mat into fine mesh, and shingle grit seals it over. LeaFree is a solid hood: there is no mesh to clog. Debris slides off, dries out, and blows away.
When do Omaha trees drop the most into gutters?
It is a nearly year-round drip. Silver and Norway maple throw seed helicopters in spring, cottonwood releases its fluff in late May and June, and oak tassels, hackberry litter, and pine needles come through fall. That steady, mixed load is why open gutters and fine mesh struggle here, and why a solid hood, which sheds all of it off the edge, fits the Omaha canopy.
Can LeaFree be installed in winter?
Usually yes. LeaFree is aluminum that we custom-bend on site and screw to the gutter lip, so it does not depend on warm-weather curing the way sealants do. We install through much of the Nebraska winter, and only reschedule for genuine safety reasons like ice on the roof or a snowstorm. If you are tired of frozen, clogged gutters, winter is a fine time to fix it.
Is LeaFree really maintenance-free?
Very close. Wind and rain clear most of what lands on the panels. We recommend a glance at sheltered spots, like under a big overhang or behind a chimney, once a season, and a garden hose handles anything stubborn. What you will never do again is scoop rotten leaves out of an open gutter.
Owning it
Will squirrels or birds nest in my gutters?
.024-gauge aluminum is not chewable, and LeaFree end caps close off the open gutter ends where nests start. Covered, capped gutters are simply not attractive real estate.
What if I already have gutter guards, screens, or foam?
We remove failing screens, mesh, or foam inserts first, then install LeaFree over your existing gutters. Old drop-in screens and degraded foam are exactly what people replace with a solid hood, so swapping them out is a routine part of the job.
Can you protect just one problem area of my house?
We can. Some homes only have one bad elevation, a north side under heavy trees or a valley that always clogs, and we can cover that. Whole-home is the most common choice because the trees rarely respect property lines, but we will quote what you actually want.
Will my HOA approve LeaFree?
Most do. LeaFree attaches to your existing gutters rather than altering the roof, sits low, and comes in 16 colors plus copper to match your trim, so it rarely raises an HOA issue. How long does installation take?

Do you offer financing?
