What does a Missouri River hardwood forest drop?
Old-growth bluff forest means big deciduous hardwoods: bur and red oak, shagbark hickory, black walnut, hackberry, and cottonwood along the river. These are heavy, year-round droppers. Oaks and hickories throw catkins and nuts, walnuts drop hulls, and the fall leaf load off mature hardwoods is as heavy as it gets in eastern Nebraska. Homes along the wooded ravines and near the forest edge deal with the most, and it is the single most punishing debris environment for an open gutter or a mesh screen in the whole metro. A solid hood is the honest answer here.
Bellevue mixes long-established neighborhoods near Offutt and the old town with newer subdivisions, and many lots are wooded and sloped, with trees taller than the house.
